I have noticed that in recent years more girls are becoming ladettes (tomboys). Which I don't really have a problem with, it's just not my kind of thing. I have always been very girly and I always will be girly.
I like pretty skirts, pink is my favourite colour and I spend time prettying myself with make up and I enjoy styling my hair.
Luckily though I'm not an airhead bimbo type girly girl. I'll happily muck in if I have to and I'm not afraid of icky bugs.
I like looking after myself. I am capable of getting ready in under 30mins but sometimes I like to take my time. I exfoliate, moisterise, deep condition, pedicure and manicure. I like pampering myself because it makes me feel good and let's face it I want my guy to think I'm the sexiest, most beautiful girl in the world. I know that he loves that I look after myself and I reap the rewards because he can't take his hands off my freshly coconut oiled...........body.
There is no way in hell I would EVER own a pair of i'vehadthemforeverusedtobewhitenowoff-whitecomfytimeofthemonth Marks and Spencers granny knickers. My underwear drawer contains precisely 3 pairs of bikini briefs which I wear in bed in the summer as it's too hot for jogging bottoms and I can't sleep naked or in thongs. One of my little quirks. The second any of my underwear starts looking a bit 'worn', in my pink sparkly bin they go!
So here I am waving the flag for us femine girls. There are only a few of us left but hell I'm proud.

I'm starting to have almost weekly manicures which is scary but it only cost me a £1 yesterday at the beauty school, having a massage today and a facial tomorrow. Had my hair done on Wednesday. So I guess I am pretty girly too.
Big knickers can be very sexy though, I've just got into those kind of short type lacy pants and I actually like my bum in them and I never thought I'd like my bum.
Posted by: H at July 22, 2005 11:06 AMOh I agree. French knickers can be really sexy. I was getting at the big high waits covers every inch of your butt, cotton, occasionally holey, used to be white, now kinda grey, bobbley knickers.
Posted by: Celeste at July 22, 2005 12:15 PMI haven't noticed a decrease in girliness - in fact, quite the opposite. I see loads of girls wearing pretty skirts these days rather than jeans/combats etc.
Maybe it's different down here in the West Country...
Posted by: witho at July 22, 2005 01:01 PMWell there are quite a few people wearing gypsy skirts at the mo as it's 'in' but I didn't just mean clothes. The whole attitude. The way they speak.
My sisters are complete ladettes. One belches out loud and isn't embarressed and the other says 'innit' quite alot and lives in trainers.
Many young girls in Reading follow suit. The attitude is that they don't care.
I try really hard to get my sisters to speak properly but they don't see the point.
Posted by: Celeste at July 22, 2005 01:09 PMBelching eh? I belch - Tilesey will confirm this as he's had the displeasure of having lunch with me in the past!
Yep, I guess if you're talking about the whole attitude I'd probably agree with that. Especially when you get gangs of girls in town centres - they can be quite intimidating in a way which I think is quite a new phenomenon.
Posted by: witho at July 22, 2005 02:28 PMI'm very much stuck inbetween, I can pull apart a computer and know what each bit is, I'll lug around boxes and do my fair share but if it's called for then I'm all for putting on a skirt, doing my nails and getting dressed up :D
