To edit or not... by Tris

The problem with sharing a blog, is that when you both have something to post one of you has to hold off for a little while to ensure that your post doesn't shadow the other person's.

Conversely you can pretty much guarantee that when one person has nothing to post, neither does the other, thus resulting in no posts at all aside from that shitty one you wrote yesterday, weren't happy with and now it has been your top post for a week. Gutted.

Dealing with the first problem just takes patience, the second is more difficult.

I'm not a great believer in filing a post away for a rainy day. All my posts are conceived, written and posted within 60 minutes, max. They represent how I am feeling at that very moment in time, be it right or wrong.

I believe that if I did take my time, edited, stored away, re-edited etc every post, my blogging would lose something. I also believe that on the flip-side, I would be a lot better a blogger and would be more popular if I didn't post some of the more controversial opinions, especially on my old blog which was awash with controversy (although received more hits per day, although most were probably Google) .

Swiss Toni is a friend of mine and weekly golfing partner. He is a great guy, if somewhat unpredictable at times. His reaction to Thursday's blast written on that fateful day is just that, a knee jerk reaction. I don't think Toni still wants the things he mentioned in his post to happen, but it makes good blogging, even if it is rather strong. The unpredictable part of Toni's make up comes in his next post, because normally Toni wouldn't hurt a fly, but again it makes good reading.

So I'm going to keep to my knee-jerk blogging, after all I've never been a careful writer. Even in exams, I would always finish early, read it through once and then leave. I could never stomach the self-doubt and annoyance at re-checking my work. Maybe I should edit more, maybe I should take my time, but that's not me baby, that's not me.

I don't have problem with not editing. I'm very much a non-editor, at least until I re-read a post. Then if there's bad speeling or grammar thats appalling Ill change it.

Nor do I have a problem with split second blogging. The problem is not the blog post about racism, it's the racism itself that worries me. Despite not being Muslim, I and anyone else who shares my skin tone has to reign themselves in right now, for no other reason than of how we look. And that is wrong.

True Geyv, very true.

I'd just like to point out that I don't agree with Toni's post!
