Is it real?... by Celeste

I find myself feeling the same about the London bombings as i did about 9/11.

It just doesn't seem real. It's all out of a Hollywood blockbuster.

I spent most of yesterday texting and ringing my friends who live/work in London. Luckily they are all ok. A bit shaken but ok.

My housemate, Chris, was 250 yards away from the first bus that blew up. He said it was the most surreal experience of his life. He even admitted that it's really shaken him. Quite a surprising comment from him as he indulges in extreme sports where there is always a risk of being injured or getting killed.

What makes the London bombings more scary than when we were all going through the 9/11 attack is that it's so close to home. Everyone knows someone who lives or works in London.

I'm still not really sure what the bombings achieved apart from tearing the lives of everyone who was effected in the attacks apart. The people who planned these attacks are just stone hearted fuckers who want to hurt innocent people. They don't want to achieve anything apart from shock and obviously terror.

My thoughts are with the families of all the people who were killed unnessesarily and to the people who have had their lives completely turned upside down from injuries forced upon them.

I grew up on the outskirts of London and IRA attacks were always possible then. It was an incredible feeling when it all came to an end and we felt like we could walk about without worrying. It's such a shame that your generation has had to experience this too. :(
