MENSA = Bollocks... by Tris

We have a weekly newsletter circulated around the department. It contains gossip, news and of course, geeks that we are here in IT, a puzzle.

This week's was put online by Swiss Tony and can be viewed here.

According to MENSA, 23 correct answers will qualify you as a genius and only two MENSA members have got all 34. Now I have never put much stock in MENSA, ever since I found out that a "friend" of mine at university was a member. Since he was the thickest bloke I knew, both in academic studies and in common sense, I don't rate MENSA members too highly. (If you ever meet James Pope, please kick him in the nuts for me)

The fact is, just like exams, if you practise IQ tests, you will score very highly regardless of intelligence level.

Going back to this quiz, I scored 33 out of 34. Toni forgot to add number 34 which is 15 M on a D M C.

The one I didn't know (number 34) I Googled and found out that even when I knew the answer, I still didn't recognise it.

Does this make me clever? I don't think so, but give it a go - it is good fun!

We used to get these from the PTA to work on over the summer holidays. For 6 weeks the esttate became a nest of answer swapping, bartering and on, occasion, stealing with a little b&e on the side.

By the time we came to hand them in about 90% of the players had swapped / stolen enough answers to get them all right so the whole thing became an exercise in futility....

How can you not know 15 m on a d m c?
