Free drinks... by Tris

I'm a bit funny with numbers.

One of my little funny things is that I loathe the number directly after 12 and immediately before 14. Loathe it.

Say what you will about it being superstitious nonsense, but throughout my life that number has never brought happiness. I hated being that age, the Apollo mission bearing (sp?) that number didn't go so well, and I am dreading that year in this century. Even when buying a house, I refused to even view a property of that number, despite the estate agent's protestations.

I hate that number so much that when setting volume, the volume is always set to either 12 or 15, no matter whether they are slightly too quiet or slightly too loud.

But when setting any number, be it volume or whatever, is always difficult because it has to preferably be divisible by 5, or be even. For instance, 14 and 16 are not good volume settings, because 15 is divisible by 5 and therefore is much better and must be chosen in preference to those two even numbers. 17 is right out due to it being an odd, non 5 divisible number, and the number before 14 is right out for obvious reasons. 12 is ok, as is 18.

But the point of this post is: I am reading Harry Potter and when reading a book, I hate leaving a chapter halfway through. I also hate the chapter directly after the twelfth and always try to read chapters twelve through fourteen in one hit to avoid lingering in the bad chapter.

Unfortunately I ran out of time this morning and have had to leave halfway through a chapter. The shit chapter.

Double shit.

I would go home at lunchtime to finish that chapter and chapter 14, but I have to go to a work do involving free drinks.

Triple shit!

In every aspect of life, there is a beauty in numbers, a pattern, a system.

This is my system :-)

Is that from Pi?

Tilesey I've got to say that I kept hearing the words obsessive and compulsive bouncing around my noggin as I read that post. But then seeing as I'm a thirty something bloke who still buys star wars toys you can pretty much discount anything I may have to say on the subject. ;)
