I don't really blog about work and for good reason - it is dull, well not dull dull, just if I read a blog about what I do at work, I wouldn't come back. But please, keep reading.
In short, whilst sitting at my desk, I make rich people even richer, which pretty much the same as everyone else (no matter how much you think you're changing the world). But the main reason why I don't blog about work and what happens there, is because it has an amazing tendency to get your arse fired, not that anyone at my company has, well for blogging at least, but I don't want to be the first.
However, blogging about people at work, so long as they are not identifiable, well that should be ok, right?
*Deep breath*
So, 3 months ago this fantastic opportunity was presented to me and I took it. This involved not only moving to a new team, but also a defection to the "other side" of our department, the nice side, the pretty side, the PC side - in short, the higher paid, better prospects, non-obsolete technology side.
What this now means is that should I leave the company, I would be looking at a job paying anywhere between 5 and 10K higher than jobs available for my old role. SCORE! Plus, there are a lot more jobs available. DOUBLE SCORE! And I can take my work anywhere, including developing applications at home. TRIPLE BONUS SCORE!
So yeah, I'm happy.
The good news is, my actual friends and colleagues are pleased for me or indifferent. Now in fairness, most of my actual friends are either on the new shiny side of the department, or in a role that has no bearing on technology., or contractors who couldn't get two craps either way.
But some people, people who I considered friendly, if not friends, are not too happy about the move. Their obvious bitterness and spite has actually pleased me, in a, "Good, I don't like you, you've tried to get me in shit before, I hope this really burns" kind of way. But the same reaction in others has actually quite pissed me off.
It has actually gotten to the point where some of them will not even say hi. I mean really, what is that shit all about!?!
I mean really, does it piss you off that much!?!
Fuck 'em.
Yeah fuck em. You've a good job, a fit bird and a top notch barbecue. Smile at their jealousy. ;)
