I smoked a massive joint... by Tris

I love my Weber braai, I love it to bits. It was the most expensive braai I have ever bought, weighing in at 3 times the price of my last one, but it is worth every single penny.

I even bought my dad one for his birthday, it weighed in at 10 times the price of his most expensive one ever, but he and my mum are totally smitten with it.

And for the record, I'm not talking napby pamby gas braai - I'm talking about your proper, your manly, your purest charcoal burning braai. Gas is for pussies who don't know how to start a proper fire.

On Saturday I smoked a monster 5KG pork shoulder for 8 of my closest friends and by god it was good. I take my cooking very seriously, it is something I enjoy and like all things in my life - I expect if not to be the best, to be very close to, this did not disappoint.

Admittedly I was aided by every accessory Weber have to offer, from the oven mitt and charcoal chimney, to the meat thermometer as well as the finest split up Jack Daniels barrels to use to smoke the pork.

So, £22 for the pork shoulder (enough for 9 people to have firsts and seconds - bargain!), 3 hours of cooking, 8 happy campers and one very happy Tilesey makes a good day. I ate too much tho...

A Barbeque, but the South African term of Braai sounds a lot nicer :-)

But where do you find proper charcoal? I'm pissed off with this easy to light crap that doesn't flavour the food at all.
