Absence makes the heart... by him... by Tris

It's funny, having a break from blogging was great, but after a while you do really start to miss it.

I tried to get round this by guest blogging on her site, but I never really felt comfortable doing that. After all, it was her place, her readers, her hits that take a "hit" after a potentially inflamatory post by yours truly. I also felt like I way betraying my own blog, posting on someone elses... but dammit, we were on a break :-)

The upside of not blogging is the lack of daily, "Oh man, what on Earth am I going to post about today?", "Can I say that? Is it too much?", "Has such-n-such linked back to me?", "why aren't I as good as..." - All normal blogging woes, but not any more. I've taken a conscious decision to not give a shit and it really works for me.

Having a chance to step away from the template and start just enjoying good blogs has made me enjoy the whole experience a lot more. No more shall I worry about what to post or who not to offend, I'll just relax and try to improve my writing style. Oh, and I'll work on sorting out the comments page in a bit.

My relationship with her is all based around the weekends. She lives 60 miles away, we both work 9-5 (830-1630 in my case), 5 days a week, I can drive, she can catch trains (with a bit of luck, heh) - the weekend is the only time we get to be together, which to be honest, makes things a little tricky during the week.

The long (Her: heh, not long enough) phone calls, the mid-week 120 mile round trips just for one night together, the lack of person to come home to, to wake up to, to hug and to hold all are difficult issues. But when we do see each other it makes the time we spend together more special, if not a little rushed.

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and it's true, it does, but it is still a pain in the ass.

Anyway, she is out the shower now, I'd better go - I've got some gawping to
do, after all I only get this opportunity twice a week....

How did you take it?
I know all about long distance relationships. Mine used to be once a fortnight for friday night (late-midnight when i got there), sat , and back sunday. I did all the driving too. 200 miles each way of it.
Count yourselves lucky!
